Donald Yule works from a studio attached to his house in the beautiful Wiltshire wool town of Bradford on Avon. His products include house name plaques, cornish time clocks, hickory dickory clocks and kitchen/conservatory clocks. The house name plaques are thrown on a potters wheel. When they are still soft, they are stamped and filled with coloured clay slip in the same way as encaustic tiles. Encaustic tiles were often used on cathedral floors. He uses a very tough semi-porcelain clay body. Finally, the plaque is glazed. The finished article has been tested for its resistance to frost damage, by repeatedly being frozen and then plunged into boiling water. No damage was registered. Your plaque will include brass screws and plugs. The colour and finish will not deteriorate and will not require maintenance.
